Your Pool Shield Installs in Under 60 Seconds

The Skimmer Shield's unique patented flexible design means installation truly requires no special knowledge, no tools, and no experience with pool equipment. If you can bend a flexible piece of plastic and slide it into a slot, you can install the Skimmer Shield.

Removal is just as easy — simply squeeze the wings together and the shield pops right out for routine basket cleaning. Pop it right back in when you're done.

4 Simple Steps to a Protected Pool

Follow these steps carefully the first time. After that, it becomes second nature.

1
Step One

Lift Out the Basket

Reach into the skimmer and lift the basket straight up and out of the skimmer housing. Set it aside — you'll put it back once the Skimmer Shield is in place.

💡

Tip: Turn the pump off before reaching into the skimmer to avoid any suction.

Step 1 – Lift the skimmer basket out of the gunite pool skimmer
2
Step Two

Insert the Skimmer Shield Through the Skimmer Opening

Hold the Skimmer Shield and slide it down through the skimmer opening. Insert one wing into one side first, then guide the other wing into the opposite side of the opening.

The flexible material lets you bow the shield slightly — pull the wings toward you to narrow it — so it fits easily through the opening without forcing.

💡

Tip: Insert one wing slightly deeper than you think you need to — this gives you the clearance to guide the second wing into place.

Step 2 – Insert the Skimmer Shield through the gunite pool skimmer opening

Step Three

Push the Shield All the Way In

Once both wings are inside, push the Skimmer Shield all the way down into the skimmer. Gently release your grip — the shield will spring outward and lock firmly against the sides of the skimmer opening.

This spring tension keeps the shield securely in place during normal pool operation but allows it to pop right out when you squeeze the wings together for cleaning.

💡

Tip: Give it a light tug to confirm it's locked before replacing the basket.

Step 3 – Push the Skimmer Shield all the way in and release to lock in place

Step Four

Put the Basket Back In

Drop the skimmer basket back into place on top of the Skimmer Shield. The basket sits as normal — your pool is now fully protected from clogging, loss of suction, and debris damage, all season long.

🔄

Routine cleaning: Remove the basket, squeeze the shield wings to pop it out, clear any debris, and reinstall. The whole process takes under a minute.

Step 4 – Replace the skimmer basket on top of the installed Skimmer Shield

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Skimmer Shield fit my concrete or gunite pool skimmer?

The Skimmer Shield is designed to fit the majority of standard concrete and gunite pool skimmer openings on the market. Its flexible design accommodates a range of opening sizes. If you have an unusually sized skimmer, contact us and we'll help you determine compatibility.

Does the Skimmer Shield restrict water flow?

No. The open design of the Skimmer Shield allows full, unrestricted water flow while blocking solid debris. Your pump will maintain normal suction and circulation.

How do I clean the Skimmer Shield?

Simply squeeze the wings together to remove the shield, shake or rinse off any debris, and reinstall. The whole process takes less than a minute and is much faster than digging debris out of your basket.

Can I leave the Skimmer Shield in year-round?

Yes! The Skimmer Shield is made from UV-resistant materials that can withstand sun, heat, cold, and all-season weather conditions. You can leave it in through winter if you don't winterize your skimmer, or remove it when you close your pool for the season.

Will it stay in place during heavy wind or storms?

Yes. The spring-tension locking mechanism holds the Skimmer Shield firmly in place during normal pool operation and even during storms. It won't blow away or float out of position.
